SlipSlate Privacy Notice
Last updated: 15 October 2026
1. Who we are
SlipSlate provides web-based software for marinas to manage slip allocation, agreements and utility readings. The service is currently operated by Alan Tanaman, an individual. We intend to transfer the service to a company when we incorporate. This notice will then be updated, and the company will take over the service and its rights and obligations.

This notice covers visitors to our website and people who contact us or book a demo. If your marina uses our software, see Section 5.
2. Data we collect
| Category | Examples | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Contact details | Name, work email, phone number, job title, marina or company name | You, when you email us, book a demo or send a request on our site |
| Messages and notes | What you write to us, how you heard about us if you tell us, and notes we take about our conversations | You, and us |
| Technical data | IP address, browser type, device, pages viewed, referrer | Automatically, if you accept analytics cookies where required |
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data through the website. Please don't send it. The website is not directed at anyone under 16.
3. How and why we use data
- Respond to inquiries and run demos. Basis: steps before a contract, or legitimate interests.
- Keep a record of our business relationship and follow up on your inquiry. Basis: legitimate interests.
- Understand how the site is used and improve it. Basis: consent where the law requires it, otherwise legitimate interests.
- Secure the website and prevent abuse. Basis: legitimate interests.
- Comply with legal obligations and defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information. We have turned off Google's advertising features, so we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We make no decisions about you with legal effects through automated means.
4. Who we share data with
Service providers process data on our instructions:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Vercel | Website hosting |
| Google Analytics | Aggregate website statistics, only with consent where required |
| Cal.com, self-hosted on Vercel | Booking demos |
| Resend | Sending operational emails |
| Sentry | Monitoring error logs |
| In-house system, self-hosted on Vercel | Storing contacts and notes |
We may also disclose data to professional advisers, to a successor in a business transfer (including our planned incorporation), and when the law or a legal process requires it.
5. When your marina uses our software
When a marina uses SlipSlate, it sends us data about its staff, customers and vessels, such as names, contact details, vessel details, agreements and meter readings. The marina decides how that data is used and is responsible for it. We process it on the marina's behalf under our customer agreement and data processing terms. If you are a marina's customer and want to access or correct your data, contact the marina first. We will help it respond.
Payments are optional. If enabled, they run on the marina's own Stripe account and we never store card or bank numbers. Card and bank details are entered with Stripe, not with SlipSlate. SlipSlate receives the values staff confirm in Dock Walk and a short transcript snippet for the audit history. Dock Walk runs in your own chat app: an assistant in your own chat app enters records only after staff confirm, and a transcript snippet is kept in the audit history.
6. International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States, the EU and other countries. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on the legal mechanism that applies, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. Google may process analytics data in the United States and elsewhere under its own terms.
7. How long we keep data
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Inquiries, demo bookings, assessment requests and renewal reminder requests with no further relationship | 24 months from last interaction |
| Customer account and contract records | Duration of the contract, then 7 years for financial and contract records only |
| Website server logs | 30 days |
| Google Analytics data | 14 months |
| Cal.com booking records | 24 months |
We delete or anonymize data when the period ends, unless the law requires us to keep it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access your data,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- restrict or object to processing,
- withdraw consent,
- receive a portable copy, and
- opt out of sale or sharing. We don't sell or share for advertising.
Write to [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity. We will respond within the period the law sets, generally 30 to 45 days. We won't treat you unfairly for using these rights. You may also complain to your local authority, such as the data protection authority where you live in the EU or UK, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your state attorney general.
9. Security
We use measures suited to the data we hold, such as encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure. We will notify you and the authorities as the law requires if a breach affects your data.
10. Regional notes
- EU/UK: For the data in Sections 2 and 3, SlipSlate is the controller.
- California and other US states: In the last 12 months we may have collected identifiers, commercial and professional information, and internet activity, for the purposes in Section 3. We do not sell personal information, and we have turned off advertising features in our analytics.

11. Changes
